Mid January my friend Liz and I decided we needed to get together to run regularly and train for the Music City Half Marathon. Both of us had babies on 2009 and we didn't want to put Lucy and Wyatt in the nursery at the Y in the winter. We got a babysitter(a steal by the way $20 each for 4hrs, yes $5 ) on Tuesdays while the big kids were in school and started training. Our deal was we had to run to use the babysitter. Then on Fridays or Saturdays Char who worked full time and was training for her first 1/2 marathon would join us for our long runs. Then Carrie joined us for race day. She is finishing Vet school next week and was in Dubai doing an internship with horses, so she trained there...not a shabby place to train!!

Race day came with the threat of tornadoes. We finished the race and got all our loot and then it started to rain. Mark and Megan were at the finish line to take us home. We never saw my brothers Ben and Jeremy and Tracy. Ummm well when you start in Corral one and two and run with the Kenyans you are home and on the couch before I come through the finish line!!! Mark, who told me " I have never been a spectator" did his duties well. Thanks to Gigi and Grandad Wyatt had his first slumber party. He had fun being rocked and loved on. He thinks we are all crazy anyways, yet is one of the reasons our household gets up early to exercise these days!!! All the early morning 6 am runs, were well worth it. Our first run was in the snow and race day was in the heat and tornado like weather. It was a great group to train with. All those dark early morning runs were worth it in the end. We all ran together up till about mile 6 when we all just kept our own pace. Liz & I were like" we have 3-Liz & me 2 kids under 3, look what we have gone through, we can do this!!"
